Connecting to your FTP space

To connect to your FTP space you will need your domain name, username and password.

Your username is usually always in the following format:

     Uxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Where xxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the first part of your domain name up to a maximum of 14 characters. No punctuation is allowed in usernames.

Some domain name/username examples would be:

Domain NameUsername
domain.comUdomain
domainislongerthan15characters.comUdomainislonger(Username truncated)
domain-name.comUdomainname(Punctuation removed)

If you are unsure of your domain name, username or password, please contact technical support.

Note that for security reasons, our FTP server only accepts Active (as opposed to Passive) connections. You should configure your FTP software to connect using the Active method.

Note for Internet Explorer Users
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 as your FTP client, you will need to make some changes on your machine before it will make Active connections. This can be achieved with the following steps:
  • Press 'ALT' to display the menu bar.
  • Go to the TOOLS menu, then INTERNET OPTIONS.
  • Click the 'ADVANCED' tab.
  • In the 'BROWSING' section, UNTICK the 'Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)' option.
